This week’s class for me was one of the most interesting so far. I am not the most tech-savvy person and so sometimes I get lost trying to figure out different platforms or applications however I understand the importance of online personal data. I think it is extremely important to understand what we are sharing online will affect everything from our online search results, targetted ads, future job opportunities, etc. The main thing that stuck with me is a parent finding a picture they may deem as inappropriate and reporting it to the principals or deans office. I am a very wholesome person who never really posts anything to wild but the idea of somebody forcing me out of a job because of a post I made as a teenager in a bathing suit or a swear word as a caption seems crazy.
Going forward however I will be even more cognizant of what I am posting and how one day that could affect my future jobs. I thoroughly enjoyed his presentation and was surprised at all the things that never go away on the internet. I will start to read the terms and conditions a little closer and keep an eye out for my personal privacy. I enjoy getting to hear things from different perspectives and hear things from a variety of professionals.
