My ukulele has been my saving grace for any time I get anxious during homework sessions. Sometimes I get overwhelmed about not being productive and other times I just need a brain break and there are those unfortunate times that these intersect. The ukulele has kept me sane because not only am I having fun but I am also being productive. I have learned two new songs, one quite well and the other is definitely a work in progress.
I started learning the song “Soul Sister” on my ukulele which has brought back all of the feels from my middle school days. This song has come by quite easy, I knew the song well to begin with so the strumming pattern came quite naturally. I have not been able to sing while playing yet without getting slightly confused but we will get there eventually!
The second song I began to work on was “Gloria” by the Lumineers which so far has been a failure. I have unfortunately been blessed with very small hands and so reaching from the first fret all the way to the fourth is so far physically impossible although I will keep trying. This has caused chords such as E to be extremely hard to play for me. I will continue to update if I begin to make these chords possible however at the moment they just are not working out!
